Elbow Physical Therapy in Brooklyn
Got elbow pain? From simple elbow strains, elbow sprains, and pulled muscles to more serious elbow injuries and conditions such as sciatica, elbow fractures, broken elbows, degenerative disorders, and other types of elbow trauma and elbow injuries.
Does Elbow Physical Therapy Help?
Elbow physical therapy works by incorporating movements that target the elbow and supporting muscles and tendons. Elbow PT also teaches you stretches, exercises, breathing techniques, and posture awareness that can also provide a sense of relief.
How long until I notice any relief from elbow physical therapy?
It all depends on the severity of your current elbow problem or elbow injury. While it is a good pain management method and has shown improvement in many elbow injury patients, others may still need to seek alternative medical treatment.
What is Elbow Physical Therapy?
Elbow physical therapy utilizes specific stretches and exercises that will target your elbow(s) and surrounding muscles and tendons. If you have an elbow injury and do not get it taken care of by a physical therapist, your body will often end up compensating for the injury causing further issues. By using the Evolve method for elbow physical therapy, our physical therapists will focus on the following: restoring alignment, functionality and mobility, and flexibility. Your elbow PT will also show you special stretches and exercises to continue to use at home. While there is no set cure for elbow pain, elbow physical therapy has been proven time and again to greatly reduce pain while improving flexibility, functionality, and mobility.
Why will our physical therapists focus on restoring alignment, flexibility, functionality, and mobility?
Alignment & Stability: When you learn about proper form and pay attention to your movements, you will be able to improve stability.
Range of Motion: You won’t be able to completely heal without focusing on restoring your range of motion. My team and I can help you regain mobility in your elbow through range of motion related elbow therapy exercises.
Strength Training: If you’ve had an accident or injury involving your elbow you will need to rebuild the strength in those muscles to complete every day activities.
How can elbow stretches and exercises help my elbow injury?
- Stabilize the elbow and supporting muscles and tendons.
- Promote better elbow alignment
- Allows for mobilization of any stiff muscles
- Improvement of functionality
- Enhances neuromuscular control
- Assists in relieving pain
- Greater muscle strength
- Improved mobility
- Increase in flexibility
How long will elbow physical therapy treatments last?
If you decide to work with an elbow physical therapist to help correct your elbow issues, your entire treatment plan could consist of around 8-20 different elbow PT sessions that will each last 60-90 minutes. Once you complete your customized elbow physical therapy treatment plan, you will be able to continue to do the prescribed stretches and exercises utilized during your elbow PT sessions yet in the comfort of your own home.
Can you benefit from the Elbow Physical Therapy?
This method of treatment for elbow pain or elbow injuries can be beneficial for children as well as adults. Anyone who is suffering from the pain and irritation that is often associated with an elbow injury may benefit from elbow physical therapy, stretches, and exercises.
Other treatment for Elbow Injuries
Elbow physical therapy is an excellent nonsurgical treatment for elbow injuries. However, depending on the severity of your case, bracing or surgery may be recommended. With bracing, you will wear a brace to stop your elbow from curving any further. If you have a severe elbow injury then your physical therapist may recommend alternative medical treatment such as elbow surgery.
Should I consider the elbow physical therapy?
Chronic Pain: If you or your child has chronic elbow pain they may benefit from physical therapy, exercises, and manual therapy. With elbow physical therapy the main goal is to prevent your ankle from continuing to decline even more. This noninvasive method has been proven to prevent injury, as well as improve alignment and mobility of the ankle and supporting muscles and tendons. If you or someone you care about is suffering from elbow pain or an elbow injury, then elbow physical therapy may be the perfect option.
